Defense against a bear-hug from behind

In this technique, the attacker grabs the defender from behind in a bear-hug.

The defender breaks the grip by simultaneously:

  • bending sharply at the waist and jamming the buttocks backwards
  • shooting the hands out forward

Wrist grab, palm upwards defense

In this technique, the attacker grabs the top of the wrist.

Step 1. The defender pulls the attacker in by raising and bending the corresponfing elbow.
Step 2. The defender lowers their elbow over the front of the attacker's arm,
Step 3. The defender releases the attacker's grasp by rolling their own hand up.

Finally, the defender can become attacker by striking uraken to the face. However, as George advises, take care before changing role.
